Valentine's Day 2015 (late) entry

So, we had spotty Internet for our IT class last week which left us quite a bit of time. I've began tinkering on some of the features around here (which are quite easy to understand) and have started posting! HA! The last time I used this was waaaaay back in 2011 so having that lesson explain it back to me really helped a lot.

This is a little story I began writing down during the long period we had for IT and since it was a few days before Valentine's Day, I decided to make it a bit more love-themed. Let me also add that I didn't expect it to even reach 500, much less a thousand words.

Unedited, unbeta'ed, unfinished...maybe? Anyway, hope you enjoy this little snippet!

Of Dreams and Reality

Of Dreams and Reality

I've always believed that people are like precious stones. Not the cliched sayings telling you that despite the brittle and rough outer layer there's a precious beauty underneath. Though I agree with that statement, I prefer looking at a different perspective. Take, for example, a DIAMOND. Observing it from afar, it's truly a jewel to behold. Upon closer inspection, anyone can see it's surrounded by facets, little mirrors reflecting the one who holds it. And it's not just by the tens but by the hundreds, maybe even thousands of crystals looking back at you.

Don't judge people from outside. The more they appear nice on the outside, the more you should doubt the inside ~ Ai Haibara (Detective Conan)

People are like that. From afar, you can only see the outermost impression they leave on you. They are just something you can admire at from a distance. But when you get to know them, you'll see the various facets of their personality breaking down, bit by bit, from their beliefs to their little habits. And, if you look even closer, you can see yourself reflected by them, depending on how you "hold" them.

The world belongs to you as much as youbelong to the world. For you were bornand that gives you the right to exist.- Lacus Clyne (Gundam SEED)

The name's Charlene Samantha Alto, but you can call me Char. I'm the 18-year-old daughter of a nurse and doctor, currently taking up BS Nutrition in UPLB so I can someday pursue a medical career alongside my parents. Though people may call it lucky that I'm an only child, it's actually really lonely. I remember them telling me one day that even though I wanted to have a younger sibling to care, they couldn't due to complicated reasons. Since then, I learned to pour most of my emotions through writing and theater. More importantly, I learned to value my friends.

Do not judge me for my petals. Learn to embrace my thorns. - The Scarlet Sky

Most people would describe me as a patient listener, a true friend who loves to bring smiles, and a hardcore believer despite being a thorough realist. I believe in the beauty of love despite its flaws. I believe in give and take, in "no pain, no gain," in thinking critically of an issue before making a stand, in gray areas and third choices and second chances. I still believe that one day all genders will receive equal rights and that women would stand without fear among men. I still believe in a world where no war exists and all people can truly appreciate happiness. I believe in NEVER judging a book by its cover, to never judge a stone's value just by the way it shines.

Most of all, I learned to believe in myself because when I look into the eyes of my parents, my families from both sides, my childhood friends, my high school buddies, my college squad, my mom and dad's pals, even the friends of my friends, I SEE myself, though in different facets, in different ways, in different pictures, all believing in ME.
No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind. - Taylor Swift
